“High school students will be making decisions about their careers that will impact the rest of their lives,” Program Coordinator of Mentor Me, Elliot Layton writes. “It is our hope that after the event the students will be better equipped to make those big decisions and to have a better understanding of many of the opportunities that exist for them in Fort St. John and the surrounding region.”
Companies that participated include Canfor, Wild Horse Oil Field Services, Shell, Progress Energy, Encana Corporation, Spectra Energy, Mustang Rentals, Roy Northern, The City of Fort St. John, and CCT Controls.
“I thought it was interesting to meet all the different kinds of people that do these jobs, and get to know them as people,” one of the NPSS students in attendance writes. “It was interesting to learn about the specifics of the work involved from a personal point of view, it allows us to have a better understanding of their fields of work.”
The event was attended by over 80 NPSS students, grade 11 – 12.
