Former employee of the ministry in Fort St. John charged with child pornography

Edward Berry, 51-years-old, was arrested at his home in Vancouver on December 16, 2014 as a result of a June 2014 investigation, according to Prince George RCMP.

Berry is facing one count of accessing child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography, according to the criminal justice branch of B.C.

The alleged offences are said to have occurred in Prince George in April 2014, at which point, he was still an employee of the ministry.

Berry has been released on bail with a number of conditions, which include not having contact with anyone under the age of 16, as well as abstaining from any electronic device with internet capabilities.

Berry has worked with child welfare cases for 24 years, according to an online bio.

Some of Berry’s previously work experience includes that with the B.C. College of Social Workers, the Federation of B.C. Youth in Care Networks, and the Public Guardian and Trustee of B.C.

Berry’s next court appearance is scheduled for January 28, 2015.
