Justin Trudeau not up for the job of being prime minister, Mulcair says

OTTAWA — Tom Mulcair says Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau isn’t up to the job of being prime minister.

The NDP leader says his Liberal counterpart has neither the experience nor the policies to run the country.

He says Trudeau, eldest son of late prime minister Pierre Trudeau, believes he can inherit power without proposing a thing.

By contrast, Mulcair says he’s got years of experience as a former Quebec cabinet minister and a substantive plan to improve the lot of struggling middle class Canadians.

Mulcair’s broadside against Trudeau comes as he kicks off an NDP caucus retreat to plot strategy for the federal election scheduled for October.

Mulcair also says an NDP government would scrap the Conservative government’s income splitting plan, which he says will benefit only the wealthiest couples with young kids.
