OTTAWA — The RCMP say they have made an “terrorism arrest” and laid charges following a criminal investigation that touches on national security.

No other details have been released but a news conference has been scheduled for 3 p.m. ET at RCMP headquarters in Ottawa.

A statement from the Mounties says the investigation was co-ordinated by an RCMP-led Integrated National Security Enforcement Team.

The teams were established last year to simplify and streamline the collection, sharing and analysis of intelligence among partners on potential threats to national security.

The teams, which include members of the Canada Border Services Agency and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, have been established in Alberta, Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa.
