Winter storm warning in effect for:
- B.C. North Peace River
- B.C. South Peace River
Hazardous winter conditions are expected.
A significant winter storm will spread snow to the Central Interior and BC Peace this morning. The snow will be heavy at times and last through tonight resulting in total accumulations of 15 to 25 cm. In addtion, northeast winds of 30 km/h gusting to 50 will give reduced visiblity in blowing snow.
Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight. Special weather statement in effect for:
- Highway 97 – Pine Pass
Heavy snow for today and tonight.
A significant winter storm will bring heavy snow to the above regions today and tonight. Total accumulations of up to 25 cm are expected with this storm. In addition, strong northeast winds of 40 km/h gusting to 70 through Pine Pass and near Terrace will give reduced visibility in blowing snow.
Travellers are advised to exercise due caution and to be prepared for quickly changing road conditions.
