EDMONTON — The latest ideas on improving the environmental performance of Alberta’s oilsands are being presented at a conference in Edmonton.
The World Heavy Oil conference will discuss plans from reducing energy and water use to better ways of restoring the boreal forest.
Presenters say it’s part of a gradual, bit-by-bit environmental improvement that nevertheless adds up.
They admit, though, that new technology takes years to bring into the field and costs millions of dollars.
The conference runs until Thursday.
