Its been almost three years since Fivestar Fight League has been in Dawson Creek, but that will change on October 9. Fivestar will be presenting “Pride of the Peace” at the Dawson Creek Curling Club, and five championships are slated to be on the line.
Fivestar owner and promoter Justin Donally said the card will feature some of the best amateur talent in the Peace region with fighters like Dylan Lielke, Jamie Herrington, Alex Martinez, and others expected to be in the cage.
“We’re going to bring the biggest amateur card we’ve ever done,” he said. “We’ve worked really hard in the last two years to develop the amateurs in northern B.C. Its gotten to the point where we’ve got guys with five to ten amateur fights and have some titles on the go. With that development we’ve got all these guys that are worthy of title shots at amateur.”
One championship bout has already been confirmed as Tate Rawling (3-0) of Prince George will be taking on Jarrett Vornbrock (3-0) of Yellowknife for the amateur bantamweight title.
The featherweight, middleweight, and lightweight amateur crowns, as well as ladies bantamweight championship are anticipated to be up for grabs as well.
Tickets are expected to go on sale in early September.
