McMahon plant turnaround wrapping up

The McMahon gas plant in Taylor is expected to resume gas processing activities tonight.

Spectra Energy confirms it is in the final stages of its turnaround of the plant, which included three weeks of regulatory inspections, maintenance, and upgrades, said spokeswoman Jennifer Thomlinson.

“The plant is expecting to return to gas processing activities (June 30),” Thomlinson said.

Back in March, Spectra told city council it predicted the work would inject about $50 million into the local economy, largely driven by the workers involved in the project. Some 600 workers were estimated to be involved.

The plant had its last turnaround in 2011.
