Police briefs

No one was seriously injured following a five-car pile up near Wonowon Monday morning.

Five cars became ensnared in a series of collisions around 11 a.m. at Mile 115 of the Alaska Highway, Fort St. John RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie said.

Shelkie said investigators have determined speed to be the cause of the accident, along with failing to stop for roadside flaggers who were working in the area.

Two drivers were written tickets.

A total of five people were sent to hospital with minor injuries, Shelkie said, and all five vehicles were towed.

Last week, Fort St. John RCMP issued a plea for public help to find Kaitlyn McMath-Mauro and Colval Abbinett. It was believed the couple was travelling to the Grande Prairie area.
