Former Yukon man arrested in Pink Mountain to face charges of sexual assault

A former Yukon man was arrested in Pink Mountain and is now facing charges of sexual assault in connection with alleged incidents involving children as young as eight years old in the Yukon.

RCMP say 55-year-old Lyle Gilmore is accused of crimes alleged between January 2013 and January 2015.

All the allegations involve victims from the Watson Lake area who were between the ages of eight and 11.

Gilmore was taken into custody last month while living in Pink Mountain, B.C., about 200 kilometres northwest of Fort St. John.

He faces eight counts each of sexual assault, sexual interference and sexual exploitation, and a breach of a conditional sentence order.

Police say he was known to visit communities in the southern Yukon and northern B.C.; his next court appearance is scheduled for June 17 in Whitehorse.
