BC Hydro has awarded a contract to Morgan Construction and Environmental for preparation activities on the north bank of Site C.
The work will include the construction of seven kilometres of access road near the site, excavation of two million cubic metres of material, clearing and grubbing 55 hectares, and producing and stockpiling 100,000 cubic metres of aggregate materials for use by other contractors
Under the contract, BC Hydro will retain an independent environmental monitor who will audit and review the work on the project to ensure that the contractor complies with environmental conditions. The environmental monitor will then report their findings to the federal and provincial regulatory agencies.
It is expected for work on this project to start in early August and to be completed by the end of June 2016.
