Fort St. John RCMP investigating after cab driver assaulted early Sunday


Fort St. John RCMP is looking for a 40 year old Aboriginal male in connection with an assault on a cab driver early Sunday morning. The driver picked up the suspect from the Chevron gas station and was assaulted at the passenger’s destination at the Howard Johnson Hotel at 3:20 a.m.

The individual proceeded to throw the driver out of the vehicle and drive away with it. The cab was later discovered abandoned at approximately 6 a.m. around 109 Street in good condition.

The taxi driver sustained minor injuries but was taken to hospital and later released.

The suspect is said to have weighed about 220 pounds.

Members of the identification section will be examining the vehicle for finger prints as the investigation proceeds.

Anyone who may have seen the suspect at the Chevron, the altercation at the hotel, or the suspect driving a grey Pontiac taxi at that time is asked to contact police at 250-787-8100.
