Grande Prairie RCMP is asking the public for assistance in identifying a person of interest in connection with an assault on a police officer. In the early morning hours of August 8 an officer pulled over a driver of a vehicle who was believed to be impaired behind the wheel. After stopping the driver of the vehicle proceeded to assault the officer.

The incident happened in the area of 108 Avenue and 94 Street around 3 a.m. The officer was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Police have come across a surveillance video of a person of interest and are seeking to identify him. A photo from the video is attached.
