Severe thunderstorms and heavy rain possible in the Peace region

Environment Canada says we could be in for some severe thunderstorms Monday afternoon followed by heavy rain in the B.C. Peace.  See the full warning below.

Potential for intense thunderstorms this afternoon followed by heavy rainfall tonight.

Thunderstorms are expected to develop over B.C. Peace River this afternoon with the potential for some to become severe. The thunderstorms will track northwards out of the region early this evening however an organized band of heavy rain is expected to follow closely behind. There is the possibility of significant rainfall this evening.

The band of heavy rain is associated with an approaching low pressure system. The precise track of the low and therefore timing and intensity of the rainfall remain uncertain at this point.

The public is advised to monitor future forecasts as warnings may be required.
