Fort St. John’s city council approved proclamations for the month of September, and the first week of October.

October 3rd to October 10th will be Family Week, the theme of the week being “Fort St. John loves families.”

During that week, different organizations will be hosting family events for little to no cost.

Karen Otway and Jeanette Karasiuk of Work BC were awarded with their proclamation for September 2015 to be BC Disability Employment Month in Fort St. John.

The aim of the month is to “raise awareness about the benefits of developing a diverse workplace and celebrate the many and varied contributions of employees with disabilities.”

Finally, the Royal Canadian Army Cadets were awarded with their proclamation to make September 2015 also Royal Canadian Cadet Month.

2015 also marks 70 years of Cadets in Fort St. John.

Council’s own Dan Davies, who is a Cadet Instructor with the Canadian Forces Reserves, joined the panel to discuss the proclamation.
