Early bird ticket packages for the World U-17 Hockey Challenge for Fort St. John and Dawson Creek are now sold out. The good news is that hockey fans are not entirely out of luck yet as the second batch of tickets can be purchased for $179.
Barry Reynard of the City of Dawson Creek and Hockey Canada said organizers are happy with the public’s response so far to the event.
“From a committee perspective I think we’re extremely happy with the early bird sales. Our understanding this weekend is that we’ve sold all of the early bird packages that we anticipated and put into the market. Now we’re into the second phase of the $179 complete packaging.”
He added it’s anticipated the Fort St. John seats will sell out in the not too distant future, but there will still be some tickets available for Dawson Creek when that happens.
“I think we all anticipated that we would see some rush. That rush came on the Fort St. John side. I think that’s specifically targeted to the fact that the number of seats that we have in Fort St. John will be a limited size in comparison to the Encana Events Centre.”
There are 14 games as part of each ticket package. They’ll consist of two pre-tournament games, six preliminary round games, two quarterfinal games, a fifth or seventh place consolation game depending if a Dawson Creek or Fort St. John package is purchased, tickets to the semi finals, and the bronze and gold medal games in Dawson Creek.
