Advance voting for PRRD’s potable water service referendum continues this week

This week, residents of Electoral Districts B, C, and D will be able to take part in advance voting on the referendum the PRRD is holding.

Residents of Electoral Districts B, C, & D are answering this question:

“Are you in favour of the Peace River Regional District Board adopting Potable Water Service Establishment Bylaw No. 2212, 2015 which will permit the Regional District to establish capital and operating reserve accounts to construct or upgrade potable water tank loader sites in various locations throughout Electoral Areas B, C and D at a maximum annual tax requisition limit that is the greater of $2,000,000 (Two Million Dollars) or $0.331 per $1,000 calculated on the net taxable value of land and improvements and assessed on improvements only?”

While residents of Electoral District B & C are answering this one, as well:

“Are you in favour of the Peace River Regional District Board adopting Domestic Sewage Receiving Facility Service Establishment Bylaw No. 2217, 2015 which will permit the Regional District to establish a domestic sewage receiving function at The Charlie Lake Sewer Treatment Plant for Electoral Areas B and C, at a Maximum annual tax requisition limit that is the greater of $500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand Dollars) or $0.114 per $1,000 calculated on the net taxable value of land and improvements and assessed on improvements only?”

The respective property tax limits in each question are averages of all tax classes.

Today, the 5th and the 6th will be days where electors can head to the PRRD’s offices in Fort St. John and Dawson Creek to vote from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Tomorrow, the 4th, the office will be open for voting from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

To vote, you must be at least 18 by November 7th of this year, a Canadian Citizen having lived in BC for at least 6 months and in electoral district B, C, or D for at least 30 days, and not be disqualified from voting in an election by law.

Two pieces of ID, one with a signature and proof of address, are required to cast a vote. The following pieces of ID are acceptable:

  • BC Drivers Licence
  • BC Identification Card or Services Card
  • ICBC vehicle insurance
  • BC CareCard
  • Social Insurance Card
  • Citizenship Card
  • Property tax notice
  • Credit or debit card
  • Utility bill (current)

Picture ID is not necessary, but the PRRD will accept government issued ID.

Voting wraps up on Saturday, November 7th – which is the general day for the referendum voting. The hours to vote are 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
