With the winter comes the sickness, and Northern Health is urging people to get vaccinated for the influenza virus – commonly known as the ‘flu.’
Starting this week, public health clinics have started offering vaccines for the flu.
The Pharmacy & Wellness Centre has a pharmacist available Monday to Friday to give out vaccines, as well.
The Senior’s Hall is also devoting an entire day to vaccine administrations, on November 17th from 11 AM to 6:30 PM.
After that, the Fort St. John Public Health Unit will be administrating them on December 1st, from 10 AM to 4 PM.
Flu shots are also free where applicable if you are eligible. To determine eligibility, you can take a look at Northern Health’s flu resources here.
Past getting the influenza vaccine, Northern Health urges people to wash their hands to provide a good defense against contracting and spreading the virus.
They add that if you do find yourself sick with the flu, you can help protect others from getting ill by observing safe cough etiquette, staying home and resting, drinking plenty of fluids and managing your symptoms.
