Since January of this year, two people have been living in the local passive house, to help accurately gauge how much energy use and savings.
This past weekend, the couple opened their doors and let curious members of the public take a closer look at the home.
Catherine Ruddell, one of the people living in the home, said over 100 people came to the open house on Saturday during the 4-hour window, followed by around 75-80 people on Sunday.

She added that there was a ‘good mix’ of different people who attended. “There was definitely, I’d say a split between senior and couples. There were a few young families that came, too.”
When asked what people liked about the house, Ruddell said many of them commented on how warm, quiet, and cozy the house was.
