BC Hydro has announced Peace River Hydro Partners has been selected as the preferred proponent for the largest single contract for the construction of the Site-C dam.

Energy Minister Bill Bennett handled the formal announcement ceremonies yesterday in Burnaby, which included participation by Premier Christy Clark and Hydro President and CEO Jessica McDonald.

However, when it came to announcing the contract winner it was the President and CEO of a Fort St. John company who was introduced by Mr. Bennett and here’s an edited version of that.

The $1.5 billion main civil works contract is expected to create approximately 8,000 person years of employment over eight years and includes construction of the earth fill dam, two diversion tunnels, and a concrete foundation for the generating station and spillways.
