As the West Moberly and Prophet River First Nations headed to court in Victoria today to challenge permits involved in Site-C, two distinct rallies in support of the first nation groups are planned for Vancouver and Victoria, respectively.
Tomorrow, opponents of Site-C construction will be meeting at Supreme Court in Victoria, and outside of the BC Hydro building in Vancouver.
Ana Simeon, the Peace Valley Campaigner with Sierra Club, called Site C is a ‘huge mistake,’ and wants to help bring more awareness to residents of Southern BC to the project.
“There’s too many people in the South who haven’t even heard of Site-C,” she said, adding that members of both First Nations appearing in court to challenge the permits are expected to speak at the rallies.
There was previous a rally in Vancouver over Site-C in early October, and a rally formed outside of BC legislature building in Victoria when motion 19 was debated.
