The Fort St. John Flyers and Spirit River Rangers rekindled their rivalry last night at the North Peace Arena. As per usual between the clubs the game went down to the wire with the Rangers winning in a shootout 4-3.

The Flyers were the first to find the back of the net just before the midway point of the first, and the teams went to the dressing room after 20 minutes of play tied at two.

There was no scoring in the second which set the stage for a wild end to the third period. The Rangers took the lead on a short-handed goal with 2:34 left in regulation but the Flyers would tie the game on the power play shortly after with 1:30 left.

The shootout went five rounds with the Rangers eventually potting the winner after none of the Flyers shooters were able to make good on their opportunities.

Scoring for the Flyers were Jeff Shipton, Adam Horst, and Rick Cleaver.

The next game for Fort St. John comes tonight when the Flyers travel to High Prairie.
