South Peace businesses become finalists for Small Business BC Awards

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Two regional businesses in the South Peace have ranked the top 10 lists for their respective categories in the Small Business B.C. Awards.

Dawson Creek’s Vintage & Restoration Love is among the top 10 in the running for the Premier’s People’s Choice, and Filaprint — based in Tumbler Ridge — is a top 10 finalist for Best Concept.

Staff of Vintage & Restoration Love shared their excitement about the nomination on Facebook.

“Thank you to all my amazing customers, and all that gave us your vote!!! Please feel free to leave a comment for the judges of how I and my staff have impacted your visit in our store;)”

Jody Mitchell, the mind behind Filaprint, took to twitter and her website to share the news.

British Columbians nominated 535 small businesses from the beginning of October until the end of November. Previously, two businesses based in the North Peace, and the Northern Rockies, were nominated and up for placement in the top 10 ranking of their respective categories, as well.

These top 10 Semi-Finalists will have to complete an award application that will be used to determine the Top 5 Finalists for each of the categories. The finalists will be announced on Jan. 29, 2016.

From here, the Top 5 are chosen to present a business pitch to the judges, à la Dragon’s Den.

The winners of each category will be announced at the Small Business BC Awards Ceremony on Feb. 25, 2016 at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Vancouver.

The winners will be offered a one-year all-access pass to education, resources, and mentorships from experts in business.
