FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — If you have a bylaw parking ticket, the deadline to get it waived in exchange for brand-new toys is approaching. In fact, it’s this Thursday, Dec. 17th.

Any parking tickets distributed as far back as Sept. 1, 2015 can be brought to City Hall and paid by providing a new, packaged, and unwrapped toy in lieu of the cash value of the ticket — which can be anywhere from $10 to $50.

The City is also accepting gift cards and cash donations for this program, and people are encouraged to donate more than the value of the ticket if they please. Once collection is done, toys will be donated to the Salvation Army, for less fortunate families this holiday season.

Toys for Tickets, which has seen success in other cities, is on it’s 10th year in Fort St. John in 2005 and has received’ tremendous support’ from the community.
