DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — Northern Health has announced that the first baby born in Dawson Creek in 2016 is a boy.

Jace Edward George Umbrite was born to Cara and Michael Umbrite last night at 10:01 p.m., at the Dawson Creek and District Hospital, weighing in at 8 pounds. Jace is the couple’s first child.

Fort St. John’s first baby of 2016 was also a boy, as was B.C.’s first baby — born in Surrey to parents from Fort Nelson.

The first baby born in Northern B.C. was a girl in Prince George at the University Hospital of Northern B.C.
