Fort St. John’s Sterling Middleton wins gold at Youth Olympics

LILLEHAMMER, NORWAY – Fort St. John’s Sterling Middleton and his team have won gold at the 2016 Youth Olympics Mixed Team curling event.

Middle and the rest of his team from Canada finished the round robin undefeated, won both quarter-final matches and then their semifinal.

In the gold medal game, Team Canada defeated the USA 10-4.

Kicking off the game with a score of five helped Team Canada get the victory.  In the opening end, Tyler Tardi’s “plan B” line call on Mary Fay’s run-back left Canada with a house full of rocks and a lead that the USA’s Luc Violette just couldn’t overcome.

Team Canada is made up of Mary Fay, Tyler Tardi, Karlee Burgess, Sterling Middleton and coach Helen Radford.
