Huskies hand out awards after concluding regular season

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Following ending the regular season on a high note with a win over the North Peace Navigators, the Fort St. John Huskies recognized their best on Sunday night. Players, coaches, and parents gathered at the Northern Grand Hotel as various awards were handed out.

Assistant coach Todd Alexander said the evening was a good one on a number of levels as aside from the awards themselves as it showed parents their children are in good hands while they get to continue to play hockey.

“We haven’t done anything like that before. Obviously some of our local parents have been able to participate over the years but we haven’t been able to incorporate some of the kids’ parents that are from out of town. Some of them came from quite a ways like Ontario and the southern tip of B.C. It was a nice night and I think it was also an opportunity to show other people that come from other parts of the province and other parts of Canada that we run a pretty good program up here,”

The award winners from the night are as follows:

Most Valuable Player: Cayle Bell

Outstanding Leadership and Dedication: Kody Disher

Top Scorer: Cayle Bell

Rookie of the Year: Jacob Lang, and Ryan McDonald

Top Defenceman: Will Lightfoot

Most Gentlemanly Player: Jacob Lang

Most Exciting Player: Cayle Bell

Most Popular Player: Lou Giesbrecht, and Adam Bowie
