VANCOUVER, B.C. — Jordan Bateman, B.C. Director of the Canadian Taxpayer’s Federation and he’s back on the Medical Services Premium warpath calling on the Clark government to implement a freeze this year, and to completely review and fix what he also calls this ‘stupid and hopelessly flawed tax.’

Using a Freedom of Information Request the Taxpayers Federation has found MSP payment numbers — which don’t include 800,000 low-income earners who are MSP exempt, but that Mr. Bateman calls ‘shocking.’

Noting the payments have gone up 40 per cent since 2010, he contends that politicians don’t really understand the MSP system or exactly how poorly it’s performing.

However, despite another petition seeking changes and speculation they could be in the offing, there’s still no clear indication from Premier Clark there will be any in next week’s provincial budget.
