Alaska Highway closed at Mile 130 due to vehicle collision

UPDATE #1:  The Alaska Highway is now open to single lane alternating traffic at Mile 130.  From pictures sent to Energeticcity.ca, one semi-truck caught fire at Mile 130 causing the highway to be closed for most of evening Thursday.  We will post more details as they become available.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — A vehicle collision involving hazardous materials has closed the Alaska Highway near Mile 130 temporarily, according to Fort St. John RCMP.

Police estimate lanes in both directions will be closed for at least another two or more hours, and traffic flow updates will be forwarded once more information is available.

Fort St John RCMP thanks the public for their patience and requests that drivers adhere to the containment perimeters as directed by members on scene due to public safety.
