Two candidates have announced their bid for the title so far — Mayor of Fort St. John, Lori Ackerman, and city councillor Dan Davies.

Both ran against each other previously for the title in 2009, which ultimately went to the current member of legislative assembly, Pat Pimm. He announced his intentions to retire after the next provincial election in November.

Residents who wish to cast their vote for the next Liberal candidate of the Peace River North riding have until this Friday to register as a member of the BC Liberal party.

The cut-off for memberships that day will be 4:30 p.m., PST. The next provincial election takes place on May 9, 2017.
