Hudson’s Hope issues update on wildfires

HUDSON’S HOPE, B.C. — According to an update from the District of Hudson’s Hope, there could be increased fire activity as the wind picks up in Beryl Prairie, Thompson Subdivision, Jamieson Subdivision, Powell Road, Brenot Creek, and Lynx Creek.

Fire spotting is continuing in these areas, but there is no risk to any structures.


Residents are asked to not travel in those zones, as it could hamper emergency response efforts.

A three-man fire crew and Wildfire Crews are patrolling the fire guards. A 1.5-kilometre long by 80-metre wide Fire guard has been constructed west of Carter: with Aspen smoking west of the guard.

Three fires are west of the Carter fire guard, and two bulldozers are currently building a fire guard extending from the Carter fire guard, going west then south for approximately 1.5 kilometres. A fire on Drew Road has been extinguished, according to the District.

Fires are currently northeast of Wegen going towards Brenot Creek and across the creek heading to Lynx Creek.

Highway 29 North has closed due to fallen power lines.
