CHETWYND, B.C. – After an investigation, the Chetwynd RCMP have arrested two people they believe to be responsible for the damage done to several of the town’s storied chainsaw carvings.
Yesterday, RCMP members attended the scene with a member of the Chetwynd District office and observed seven wood carvings that were broken along with two stop signs that were pulled from the ground and a dog waste dispenser that was damaged.
Through further investigation and receiving tips that were provided by several local youths, police were able to locate and arrest the two suspects. Both youths were subsequently charged with mischief over $5000 and theft under $5000, and under the terms of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, their identities have not been released.
