CHARLIE LAKE, B.C. – The Jackfish and Rotary ball diamonds in Charlie Lake have been given a huge makeover in advance of next month’s 1st Annual Travis Waite Memorial Foundation Slo-Pitch Tournament.

On Saturday, a group of volunteers used heavy machinery and other tools to transform the formerly dandelion-covered ball diamonds.

The mixed-team tournament will feature ten teams playing ball at the diamonds June 3rd through 5th in memory of Fort St. John resident Travis Waite. Waite passed away on May 30th of last year after being assaulted at a Fort St. John home on May 18th. He was 29 years-old.

All money raised by the teams will go towards helping unprivileged kids in the Fort St. John area get to play organised sports. Anyone wishing to help out with the tournament, register their team, or donate can get in touch with organisers on the tournament’s Facebook page:
