FORT ST. JOHN – B.C. – Fort St. John City council approved the addition of a 50/50 cost share with a land owner to construct 91st Avenue between 74th Street and the East Bypass Road to the 2016 Capital Budget, after another 50/50 cost-share project was put on hold.

The estimated construction cost of the project is $1,760,000; $665,000 being paid by the land owner with the remaining $1,095,000 to be borne by the City. The costs include the installation of water mains, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, 2.0 meter wide sidewalk, road base and an 11-meter wide asphalt surface, curb, gutter, and street lighting.

After another land owner delayed involvement in a project with the city to construct 108th Street between 108th Avenue and 110th Avenue, along with the construction of the remainder of 109 Avenue beside CM Finch School, the city’s $640,000 cost for that project was made available. Additionally, the 2016 LAS road works tender came in approximately $580,000 under budget, while Major Storm Sewer tender came in approximately $740,000 under budget: a total of nearly $2,000,000 – almost twice the amount needed to complete the project on 91 Avenue.
