HUDSON’S HOPE, B.C. – The Carter Road Fire burning ten kilometres north west of Hudson’s Hope has now been 95% contained by fire crews.
Fire Information Officer Amanda Reynolds confirmed the news with Energeticcity.ca this morning, saying that the fire has been held to 510 hectares by the 40 firefighters, 5 helicopters, and 3 pieces of heavy equipment that are operating on the fire.
The 75 other firefighters battling the Halfway River Fire have also made progress since Wednesday. That fire, which still covers 1,434 hectares is now 50% contained.
Depending on local weather conditions, Reynolds says that crews may begin to conduct controlled burns today or tomorrow near both fires in order to increase their containment. Those burns will result in an increase in smoke activity visible from both fires.
