Fort St. John Hosts Workshop For Those Who Care For Someone With Dementia

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Dementia is a hard thing to see a loved one go through. But it can be especially tough situation for those who care for someone suffering from the illness.

“The physical and psychological toll on family caregivers is considerable.” – Leanne Ranes, the Alzheimer Society of B.C.’s Support & Education Coordinator for Fort St. John and the Peace region.

To help those who may be caring for someone and are struggling, the Society is bringing its free Family Caregiver Workshop to Fort St. John on Wednesday, June 8.

Participants will learn how to care someone with dementia but also how to care for themselves, so that they can continue to care for their family members.

“We offer practical techniques and strategies that caregivers can begin using immediately,” Ranes says.
