EDMONTON, A.B. – The Fort St. John Flight Minor Basketball Team had phenomenal success in their first tournament of the season.

The teams were in Edmonton over the long weekend to compete in the Swoosh Canada Tournament, which hosted 120 teams from across Western Canada. The association fielded four teams in the tournament: U13 Boys, U15 Boys, U15 Girls, and U17 Boys. Each of the teams were placed in the ‘Bronze’ pool of their age group, due to coming from a smaller population centre than other teams.

The U13 Boys team came home with gold in the U13 Bronze Division, coached by Megan Inglis & Kory Bell.

The U15 Boys team coached by Kelly Ziebart & Eugene Concepcion went up against some incredible teams such as Calgary Storm & Grande Prairie Wolves, placing third in the U15 Bronze Division.

With Colin Ziebart, Courtney Helm, and Kymmie Dunn at the helm, the U15 Girls came in first in their pool and after an intense last game, losing by only a point, they eventually placed in fourth out of 7 teams in the U15 Girls Bronze Division.

Coached by Rob & Pamela Sandberg, the U17 Boys went up against some strong teams and lost their first two games, but came back fast and furious to win first in the B side of their division.
