FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – No news is also good news for the Halfway River Fire.
The fire has not grown past the 5,000 hectares it grew to yesterday. The fire is also still contained at 50%.
The B.C. Wildfire Service says that operations have gone well, and will continue today.
“Dozer guard west of Farrell Creek on the SW flank is complete, patrol and mop-up continues on the perimeter where possible. Planned ignitions on the south flank were successful and burning on the north and west flanks may happen today as opportunities arise”
Rain is expected to hit the Peace River Region tonight, which will also help fire fighting efforts.
The current list of crew working on the fire are the following:
• 61 firefighters
• 5 helicopters
• 3 heavy equipment
15 support staff are also working on this incident.
