Government pledges $5 million to Geoscience BC

VICTORIA, B.C. – The B.C. Government announced today that they have pledged $5 million to Geoscience B.C. who are a non-profit society and work with various people and groups to unlock the provinces resources.

Geoscience also plays a big part in helping get resource projects to “yes”.

In the previous 10 years, Geoscience has completed more than 135 projects and has also generated earth-science data for more than 50% of B.C.

An example would be last year when Geoscience B.C. completed a survey of an 8,000 square km area here in the Peace Region to map 3D configuration of fresh water aquafiers.

Robin Archdekin, President and CEO of Geoscience says the group is thankful for the support.

“We sincerely appreciate the generous support and confidence the Government of British Columbia has shown in Geoscience BC over the years. Through this funding, Geoscience BC will continue to build on our reputation as a trusted voice of independent, world-class earth science, supporting and strengthening responsible resource development that benefits all British Columbians.”

Geoscience B.C. is also involved in gas research, mining, and water researcu.
