FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – A number of community mailboxes were vandalised and broken into north of Fort St. John last week.
The mailboxes were broken into between Tuesday, June 21st and Wednesday, June 22nd in the morning. According to Cst. Nancy Saggar with the Fort St. John RCMP, the mailboxes in question are located on 271 Road just off the Alaska Highway. Saggar says that the break-ins were brought to the RCMP’s attention by a member of the public. According to a note left on the mailboxes by Canada Post Supervisor Karen Morton, mail delivery to the boxes has been suspended, and that delivered mail can be obtained at the Fort St. John post office, along with any intact locks.
Canada Post has not responded to questions regarding the incident.
Saggar says that police do not have any witnesses in the case, but are asking any with information to call the Fort St. John RCMP at (250) 787-8100, or call Crimestoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
