DAWSON CREEK, B.C. –  A events centre in Dawson Creek has found a way to give back to those who need it the most.

Spectra by Comcast Spectacor which is the main provider of  Venue Management, Food Services, Hospitality and Ticketing as well as Fan Engagement to the Encana Events Centre in Dawson Creek, has helped raise over $4000 for the Canadian Red Cross in efforts to help those affected by the devastation in Fort McMurray.

A donation page was put up through the venue’s ticketing online box offices. Fans as well as partners helped raise over $4000 in the month of May for Fort McMurray.

Most of the money is for the Alberta Fire Appeals and will help with recovery efforts by the Canadian Red Cross in Fort McMurray.  The leftover funds will be going towards the BC Wild Fire Fund.

Ryan MacIvor, General Manager of Encana Events Centre says they are very gracious for those who stepped up to help.

“In the past year, Spectra by Comcast Spectacor has helped over 50 local charities raise over $30,000 throughout Dawson Creek, so when we saw what was going on in our neighboring province of Alberta and the community of Fort McMurray, we knew we could lend a hand and have our fans, partners and customers join us in this effort. We could not have done this work without the support of our corporate partners.”
