FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The spirit of Pride will be coming to the Energetic City later this month.

The Fort St. John Pride Committee will be hosting the First Annual Pride Walk on Saturday, June 25th at 12:00 PM at Fort St. John City Hall. The parade, which won’t involve any vehicles, will walk down the sidewalks of 100th Street to Centennial Park where festivities and possibly a barbecue are scheduled to take place. FSJ Pride Committee member Kerry France says that the event is LGBTQ+, meaning that in addition to being open to members of the community who identify as lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender/queer, that families, loved ones, allies and supporters of the LGBTQ+ community are also welcome to participate. So far, members from the Dawson Creek Pride Society say that they will be attending, and the committee has also extended invitations to Peace River and Grande Prairie, which is also celebrating its Pride on the same weekend.

Though the BCGEU and CUPE have both signed up to sponsor the event, France is hoping to see more local organizations from the community get on board. Anyone wanting to participate in the Pride Walk can get in touch with Kerry France at (250) 793-0322, or can email [email protected]
