FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Siphon Creek wildfire is no longer a wildfire of note after it was deemed not a threat to communities.

Amanda Reynolds with BC Wildfire Services says the fire still sits at 80% containment. The decrease of fire activity also was a reason behind the fire being downgraded. Crews have completed scanning and have taken equipment that was being used on the fire, off.

Crews are continuing to monitor the fire with the heavy rainfall that has hit Fort St. John. Once the rain subsides, they will continue to mop-up and contain what is left of the fire.
