Dawson Creek Mayor disappointed in LNG Canada decision

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. – LNG Canada and joint vendors decided yesterday to delay the final investment decision, something Dawson Creek Mayor Dale Bumstead says is extremely frustrating.

“It’s disappointing and I think frustrating all at once because all of us in the up stream area of the province and northeastern BC are all living this economic opportunity that the Montney gas fuel presents to us and it is encampment upon a LNG industry to potentially ship this gas across the world.

With the delay and announcement LNG Canada made, we anticipated the decision would be made this time in 2016, they origionally said early 2016, and then with this decline in the market they said late in 2016, but it would be in 2016. Now we hear they are delaying it. It’s just frustrating.”

LNG Canada announced yesterday that its joint venture participants, which are: Shell, PetroChina, Mitsubishi Corporation and Kogas, have decided to delay a final investment decision on LNG Canada that was planned for end of this year.
