FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Nine ladies from the Fort St. John area competed in Vancouver this past weekend at the 2016 BCABBA Provincial Championships.

Jeni Briscoe, the owner of Today’s Techniques, said that four athletes that train at her gym were at the competition. Maegan Okrainec, Raena Shuster, Debbie Clarke, and Shelley Osborne were all competing in a number of categories. Okrainec competed in both the Masters and the Open Physique competitions, placing first and second in those respective categories. Shuster placed third in the Fitness class, while Osborne competed in the Masters and Open Figure classes, but sadly did not place in the top five. Debbie Clarke made her IFBB professional debut competing in the Fitness class where she placed fifth, earning points towards qualifying for the IFBB Olympia series.

Athletes that train at World Gym, owned by Krista Cowie, were also in competition. Faye Anstey, Crystal Huhn, Taryn Campbell, Janelle Shelfow, and Joey Jeffery competed at provincials as well, Jeffrey in the Open Figure class, and the four other ladies in the various Bikini classes, which are judged by height. Shelfow was the lone contestant from the gym to place in the Top 5 in her event, taking 3rd place in the Bikini ‘F,’ or tallest class.
