Funding provided to support participation in LNG environmental assessment

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – 17 recipients will receive over $247,008 in funding involving the proposed Pacific NorthWest LNG Project.

The money is to support Indigenous and public participation in the federal environmental assessment.


The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency), says this money was given to support participation in the final stages of the assessment. The money comes from the agency’s participant funding program.

“It enabled public and Indigenous participation in various steps of the environmental assessment of the project, such as reviewing and providing comments on the Environmental Impact Statement or on the summary thereof, the draft Environmental Assessment Report and the potential environmental assessment conditions, and material submitted by the proponent in response to the Agency’s March 2016 information request.”
