FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Giv’r to the Riv’r mountain bike race will be happening at the end of the month, after inclement weather forced its postponement on two occasions.

The race was originally scheduled to run at the Big Bam Ski Hill on June 11th after the Big Bam Vertical Slam, but was pushed back after heavy rains in the days leading up to the event led to the course becoming too slippery to be ridden safely. After the hill was also deemed too unsafe one week later, Fort St. John Mountain Bike Club decided to postpone the race until much later in the summer.

Giv’r to the Riv’r will now be held on a different course at the Big Bam hill on July 29th and 30th. Friday July 29th will see riders practicing on the “In the Bush” course beginning at 5:00 p.m. On Saturday, the race will follow ICN rules, and consist of a practice run, staging run, and two race runs. Racers are asked to meet at the hill at 10:30 a.m. for a racer’s meeting at 11:00. Races are expected to get underway at around 12:00 p.m., and will see riders competing in the Mens, Ladies, and U18 divisions.

The race is open to the public, as well as Fort St. John Mountain Bike Club members. Entry fees are $35 and $25 for non-members and members respectively. Registration can be done at this link, and for more information, visit the club’s website.
