Alleged impaired driver found passed out at the wheel

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – A man was detained by police in Fort St John this morning on suspected impaired driving charges after being found passed out at the wheel.

Staff Sergeant Steve Perret with the Fort St. John RCMP says that officers arrived at the parking lot of the McDonalds on Alaska Road shortly after 4 o’clock this morning, where they found a 23 year-old man passed out behind the wheel of a pickup truck. Upon further investigation, officers detained the man on suspicion of impaired driving by drugs.

Perret was not able to confirm the type or quantity of drug that the man was allegedly impaired by, as police are awaiting the results of a blood sample. It is unclear whether charges are going to be considered in the case. Perret added that police are continuing their investigation at this time, and that not further information was able to be released.
