TAYLOR, B.C. – After two postponements due to heavy rains and a slippery course, the Fort St. John Mountain Bike Club hosted the first-ever Giv’r to the Riv’r mountain bike race at the Big Bam Ski Hill this past weekend.
Fourteen riders took part in the race, which saw some incredibly exciting racing over the course of two heats on the club’s course from the top of the hill near Taylor.
Brett Stevenson ended up taking first place in the race, after posting blistering times of 2:21.4 and 2:21.99. Zach Dzuba finished the race with a silver medal after notching a 2:26.96 on lap one, and a 2:26.24 on lap two. Brandon Klamut was on pace to finish 2nd after recording a 2:26.8 on his first lap, before dropping 3 ½ seconds to 2:30.3 on lap two, which was still good enough for a bronze finish. Jesse McArthur was the fastest U18 rider on Saturday, posting a 2:37.2 and a 2:36.8 to take 7th place.
