Chetwynd Fire Department extinguishes suspicious grass fires


CHETWYND, B.C. – Members of the Chetwynd Fire Department were called out to a series of grass fires near that town that have been deemed suspicious.

Fire crews extinguished the three fires along Highway 29 North near the Jackfish Lake Road turnoff yesterday afternoon at around 3:00 p.m. The cause of the fires was deemed suspicious in nature by fire crews, who called the RCMP to investigate.

No further information has been released.

The Chetwynd Fire Department is reminding all residents to call 911 or Crime Stoppers immediately to report a person setting fires.
